ABOUT SIA
Sia Ivone Antunes Blaser
Founder, The Business Doula & Sunflower Writing
Hello and welcome. I’m Sia, a business doula, writer, editor, mom, dancer, and all around very human person. I carry a lifelong fascination with cooperation, culture, and meaning-making, personally and professionally. For more than 15 years, I’ve been fortunate to bring this to each of my clients along with my executive skills, embodiment practices, compassion, and care.
Doula-ing, keeping someone company and offering heartfelt support of all kinds, is one of my deep callings. It has been my sincere honor to serve as a birth doula, postpartum doula, death doula, and business doula. In it all I am guided by core values of efficiency, presence, sustainability, relational empathy, care, and warmth.
My writing, editing, and marketing/PR work began at the woman-owned and -run Lisa Ekus Group (now, The Ekus Group), an esteemed non-fiction literary agency and PR firm, after earning a dual-degree in non-fiction writing and anthropology at Hampshire College. Following several years at the agency, I struck out on my own as a writer and editor and here I am a decade and a half later, still loving it.
It’s been my joy and pride to work on books such as Banana: The Fate of the Fruit that Changed the World by Dan Koeppel, and The Co-Regulation Revolution: Tap the Power of Embodied Connection for Trauma Healing & Anti-Oppression Work by Beth Dennison. I’ve done food writing, copywriting, PR, social media, blogs, newsletters, internal and external email communication, and more. I have helped folks develop and produce educational programming, brochures, and websites and more.
In essence, doula-ing and much of my purpose in life is community-based service. I believe that the networks of connection we have are our greatest wealth. I participate in many community circles, from long-term women’s circles to serving on the board of dance events, joining a neighborhood somatic abolition study group, and organizing death cafes. From volunteering at the polls to bringing meals to families experiencing hardship and working with a cooperative of self-employed folks, I do what I can to ease loneliness and suffering, and to build bridges of shared humanity despite differences in experience and perspective.
